Agriculture is the backbone of uttarakhand and is practised my many people especially those living in the hilly areas of uttarakhand. Many hilly people of uttarakhand have taken agriculture as their main occupation as it gives them bread and butter. The women of uttarakhand are also involved in agriculture as men leave the hills to find better jobs in cities.

There are many types of animal and birds found in uttarakhand. Uttarakhand government has taken several steps to keep them safe and some places have been preserved for organisms.If a person kills animals or opresses, them that person is severely harassed and punished.
